Day 11: The Aguero moment
"The Aguero moment" is a phenomenon named after the former Manchester city player "Kun Aguero," when he scored an iconic last-minute goal for the side against Queens Park Rangers in the 2011-2012 English Premier League season, securing the league title for them.
You know that point where it feels like Boreas, Eurus, Notus, Zephyrus (the four winds of the Earth) planned a coup against you and now, everything just seems to be going in the opposite direction that you want them to. (the Yoruba would say "Ishe aye").
You get to the point where you lose your wallet, you get served breakfast, the Forex Market crashes, Nottingham forest miraculously beats Man city and now Sportybet is asking you "What is cashout," your transformer explodes, your friends come back from the charging spot and tell you "we only saw your charger..." You’re at the peak of Sapa and you’re not doing well.
All of a sudden, in the midst of SAPAGNAROK, where all hope has been lost and sniper pon your mind (even though you can’t afford it), an unknown number rings your itel but you choose to ignore; not because you don’t wish to pick but picking the call puts you in a tug of war/luck with your handset (as it isn’t worthy of being qualified with the word "phone"), as the screen is with a diagonal crack which presses itself even when you don’t tap on the screen.
You take a deep breath and make up your mind to pick on the fourth ring and as fate would have it, your stars align and you successfully pick the call. The voice sounds European but the words spoken by the caller seems too vague, as the Garri Ijebu you’ve been binge-soaking lately has been messing with your mind and now, your body’s programming language cannot process the fact that the remote job you signed up for months ago has finally decided to hire you, with their proposed salary being $10k per month.
That exactly is what the “Aguero moment" preaches.
A tweep posted the other day that you attract what you fear the most. Eyin fans mi, I’ve been having headache ever since I curated this write up about "The Aguero moment." What could this be signifying?…
